Even after all that effort, attending the trip would have been a family hardship and I made the difficult decision not to go—but I was able to gift my sales to a classmate who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to attend. She was a twin, and her family couldn’t afford for both girls to go. Looking back, I now understand how meaningful that gift was to a family facing an impossible choice.
